Blistering Reality

Blistering Reality

Feeling your eyes upon me

I sense the fixation of your thoughtful glance

Wondering what that thought may be

If only you had given us a chance

Outlandish thoughts consume my being

My mind racing as I meet your stare

Ideas of what could have been

Sometimes make this cross a difficult one to bear

As smiles are exchanged

The pain has vanished from my eyes

I once again live for the the moment

Disregarding how the heart cries

Gazing desperately into your soul

I search for something I may have missed

Needing only one glimmer of hope

To send me spiraling back into my love-sick abyss

Acknowledging a tinge of disappointment

My first instinct is to smile

For I have grown accustomed to my foolishness

The choice is mine, to live in denial

An abundance of laughter now fills the room

Setting my spirit aglow

More joyful I have never been

Though true happiness I may never know
