The current state of the world has my heart a mess. I was fortunate enough to grow up in NYC, a land of diversity. I was fortunate enough to be raised by parents who grew up amongst the same diversity, and never missed an opportunity to teach us that we are all equal. They taught us that there are good and bad in all kinds…And that was determined by the strength of your character, not the color of your skin, or the religion you follow, or the person you fell in love with, or the size of your bank account. I don’t know how to teach that to those of you who were raised in a culture of fear. But that is no longer a valid excuse. At some point it becomes a choice. We have too much access to information for anyone these days to not know better. You choose ignorance. You choose blindness. You choose to be a bigoted piece of shit. And while that is your choice to make, once you impose that hatred upon others, it becomes unforgivable.
